The Communities Together Trust (CTT) operates on a core focus of Multi-Racial, Multi-Faith and Multi-Cultural Ethos. As such, the CTT activities are aimed at benefitting all people in community, regardless of race, religion, gender and age – along secular pathway toward building strong community. Indeed, enhancing equality and diversity in the community is fundamental to its organizational goal.
Services
Advancing Tackle Poverty via undertaking activities that prevent those who are already poor from becoming poorer, as well as helping those at risk of being in poverty by campaigning for relief of poverty and organizing surgeries on money management and debt advice, arranging training in work skills, providing advice and assistance in applying for appropriate state benefits. Also, supporting people who are disadvantaged due to old age, chronic or terminal ill-health, physical disability, learning difficulty, financial hardship including lack of shelter.
Advancing Community Development through diverse human development activities such as informal education and training to enhance understanding of individual capabilities by unlocking their potentials, skill development and capacity building, and public health improvement. Emphatically, empowering women and young with economic opportunities remains a priority.
Advancing Active Citizenship via engaging proactively to inspire members to develop their leadership skills and roles, thus enable their capacity to cascade such roles to all members of the community, raising awareness of civic responsibility and volunteering, campaigning to engage people in local regeneration activities.
Advancing Health via undertaking activities to help people to maintain or improve their health by offering mental health surgeries, informal counselling on occupational health issues, providing information to improve the diet to prevent diabetes, and encouraging individuals’ participation in sport and leisure activities.
Advancing Human Rights to protect and relieve the victims of human rights abuse by raising awareness of human rights, engaging to relieve the suffering, poverty and distress arising through conflicts on a local/national level, and promoting reconciliation between individuals, groups and organizations in local communities, finally actively assisting enforcement of human rights law.
Advancing Religion to promote racial or religious harmony in communities by undertaking multi-faith orientated activities toward the lessening of conflict between people from different races, religions or belief systems – organising workshops and talk sessions, bringing together immigrants and existing residents, assisting multi-faith ceremonies to take place – all for raising public awareness and understanding of the beliefs or practices of religions, thus providing platform for inter-faith dialogue.
Advancing Environmental Improvement and Protection and the promotion of sustainable development via campaigning towards raising awareness of energy saving measures and the use of renewable energy, and proactively engaging in the reduction of pollution and waste, protection of green spaces and preservation and conservation of the natural environment.
Strengthening Partnerships with the Stakeholders – statutory, voluntary and community sectors in Scotland, thus enhancing the promotion of strong inter-community and cross-cultural relations.
Exploring Economic Opportunities for the women and young people, as such Networking and Communicating with prospective resource persons and organisations in Scotland for investing in societal development projects.
Encouraging and Attracting People with disabilities and unemployed to participate in its programs free of cost; also pensioners and young people at concessionary rates. Of course, ensuring participation from the disadvantaged section of the population remains a priority.
